Days 2, 3, and 4 of My Sisterlock Installation

Okay so I know that haven't been updating my installation everyday but I do have some pics from the days I've missed and I would've started putting them up but at the end of every day I was just too exhausted to post anything.  But here I am now to update you on my progress.  Now as I stated before my hair is very very thin and so it has taken a while for me to get the sisterlocks in.  But I have to say that I absolutely love them so far.  I knew the installation was going to take a long time considering because of my hair texture but I didn't think it would look as good as it does.  Here is a picture of me after day 3

And this is after day 4, we are almost finished but there is a little more in the back that still has to be done.  My consultant Faith told me that I have the most difficult type of hair to lock but when it does lock it will look the best.  So I'm really looking forward to seeing it lock though I know it's going to take a while.

It's actually a lot fuller than I thought it would be based on some of the pictures I have seen but Faith told me that there are some consultants that have been putting the sisterlocks in too big and so there ends up being more scalp showing than what it should be.  So I'm really blessed to have found my consultant because she is freakin awesome.  Today will be day 5 of my install and hopefully the last day as well, but with my crazy hair you never know.

Day 1 of Sisterlock Installation

So today was officially day one of my sisterlock installation.  For the first day Faith Montague, my consultant, worked for about 8 hours which wasn't too bad considering we spent most of the time watching Netflix.  As I said in my last post I have very fine and thin hair and its very soft so the installation process took much longer then it would for someone with thicker hair.  My consultant told me that because of the texture of my hair it may be a while before my hair locks, which I don't mind because I knew it was going to take a while anyway.   But here is a picture of my sisterlocks after the first day.

So I'm pretty sure it's going to take 3 days to get it all in but thats fine as long as its right I don't mind the time frame.  I have to say that my consultant Faith is very good I like that she is so meticulous when it comes to the parts and makes sure they are right.
She told me that as the front normally takes longer and once that's done the back is much easier to do so I'm sure it wont be too long.  As soon as I get some pics for Day 2 of my installation I'll post them.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to ask.

The Start Of My Sisterlock Journey

Hi everyone, my name is Desiree and I decided to start a blog about my sisterlock experience.  First let me say that my official date to get my sisterlocks is tomorrow so I decided to do this now so that I can start at the very beginning of my journey.  I have watched many other people and their journeys have inspired me to start my own so here we go...

the first thing I want to say is that I have been looking at sisterlocks for a very long time about 3 years and the only problem that i had with them of course was the price.  Let me just say now that I am not rich by any means which is why the cost of sisterlocks has caused me to wait for 3 years to get them.  I have been natural for 8 years about 2 years after going natural I got dreadlocks and I loved them!!

But after 6 years of having them my hairline was starting too recede and the last thing I wanted to do was to mess up my hair so I took them out :.(
Of course if I had done some research on it I would have realized that I could've just stopped getting them done every two weeks and I could've saved myself the heartache but you live and you learn.

So now that my hair is out I have had the hassle of trying to find things to do with it every day.  I'm sure that every other person who has natural hair goes through this same problem especially when my sister decided to go natural about 4 years ago and so she struggles right along with me.  Here is a picture of me and my sister way back in our perm days...
That picture was actually at my prom and it happened to be my very last perm.
And here is me with me hair out doing a length check.

But anyway back to what I was saying, I decided to get the sisterlocks and went to meet a consultant so I could get a better idea of how much it would be.  So after meeting with her for about 15 minutes (which I did not realize was a very short time frame) she wanted to put the tester locks in my hair.  But only after she said that it would be $700 to install.  Now i know that the price she gave me was not that bad considering that at the time i had 7 inches of hair but I had only saved a few hundred and didn't know if I could spend that kind of money on my hair.  I guess I would say i'm a little cheap, when in comes to paying anything over $50 I always think twice.

But I decided to get them anyway but of course as soon as I made that decision I lost my job... So i had to put that on hold for a while.
But thank God that a few months later I got another job doing basically the same thing.  So this year i have really been trying to save up for them but I have also been looking for ways to reduce the cost.  One way that i saw to reduce the cost was to go with a trainee instead of a consultant and when I tell you that God is good he truly, truly is.
So one day I was searching the web for a deal on sisterlocks in the DC, MD, VA area and I happened to come across a groupon for half off sisterlocks in my area.  As I looked at the coupon i noticed that she was in Germantown, MD.  Seeing that definitely threw a wrench in my celebration, because I don't drive and Germantown is about 40 minutes from me, so I just assumed I wouldn't be able to do it.  About a week later me and my bestest friend went out and I told her about the sisterlock coupon. She offered to take me to the appointments because she knew how much I wanted them.(F.Y.I. She is the greatest best friend ever)  Of course hearing that made me ecstatic but I reminded her that i still only had half the money even with the coupon because of several circumstances that had come up through out the year.  But then she suggested that I ask my mom to pay the other half as a Christmas gift, which i immediately did and she agreed. YAY!!!

So when we left the restaurant I called Faith, that's her name by the way, and we talked for a few minutes and I told her about me and that I really wanted the sisterlocks and that I had someone who could take me to Germantown.  But then she told me that she actually will travel to me because that's how she does her business she travel to her clients homes which was awesome.

And I'm just gonna take a moment to say that if I hadn't taking the time to call her I never would have known that she travels. LOOK AT GOD!!!

So she came to my house and gave me the consultation.  The consultation took about 2 hours in total and she was very nice an answered all of my questions.  I saw the video and after the consultation she put the tester locks in my hair.

One thing I was and still am worried about is the fact that I have very fine thin hair and so I didn't want to have a problem with slippage or anything but we will just have to see how that goes.  here are pics of the tester locks.

She put in four in the back and four on the side
After I trimmed my ends, because they were very uneven, she said I had 6 1/2 to 8 inches of hair. So now i'm just really excited about getting my sisterlocks in and I cant wait til tomorrow.
